LIVE AT SQUAMISH: Green Couches, Garibaldies & The People!
Well that was a festival to remember, to say the least! What a grand time put on by organizers BRANDLive in the mountains of BC. We are still BuzZ’ing from two days of wonderful weather, wicked music, great food, arts, entertainment & more!
Now, there is nothing like watching Weezer, Girl Talk, John Butler Trio & Metric rip up the main stage, but even better was watching the subtle surprises (Said The Whale performing as Panda Watch) and raw energy from Green Couch Sessions and The Garibaldi Stage where we got up close and personal with: The Belle Game, Kim Churchill, Proper Villains, Shad, Panther & Supafly, and the list goes on and on! Like most, who doesnt love a main stage, but the two smaller ones brought something unique, something new, something fresh. Our fave moment was watching Shad bust into the crowd, ripping apart the reporters and leading his people in a wave of infectious groove. And that’s where we move on to the people, in one word, they were “great”. The crowd was so happy, so into it, so “there”, in the moment and they couldnt have been better. From the families to the freaks to the dancing chiefs, hippies, stilt-walkers and more, they were all great! This years Live At Squamish saw over 19,000 shiny happy people dance a jig heard all the way up and down the Sea to Sky highway. The music may be over for now, we may all be back at work, but we all have the memories to keep us going till next year, or as one concert-goer named Parker said (you may remember him, he was the dude with the balloons) “till next year, the year after and the year after that”. Thanks Squamish, looking forward to 2012!
