15th ANNUAL VANCOUVER ASIAN FILM FESTIVAL

Take a stroll down to Vancouver’s Chinatown and you’ll see some of the most unique & interesting things the city has to offer…..and on November 3rd BC BuzZ found one of them!  At the top floor of the International Village Mall (formerly Tinseltown) about 148 steps up is Canada’s oldest Asian film festival.  Celebrating its 15th year, the Vancouver Asian Film Festival is already underway from November 3-6 (at the International Village Cinemas) and what an amazing start to the a wonderful festival that provides a forum for independent North American Asian filmmakers to showcase their work to all film going audiences.  Last night’s kick off started with Bertha Bay-Sa Pan’s dysfunctional love story “Almost Perfect”.  In attendance was some of the stars, Golden Globe & Emmy nominated actress Tina Chen (her character in the film could give Darth Vader a run for his money) and Vancouver-born Hong Kong superstar Edison Chen.  It was a great first night to what should be a very successful festival run.  From shorts to docs, from Bollywood to women in Hollywood and more, there is something for everyone at VAFF!  For all schedule info on screenings, parties & tickets, etc etc go to http://www.vaff.org and dive into the Asian world of cinema & support your local film festival!
